Console’s-Tascam DM-4800 Digital Consoles ( Tandem ) These were in production for 7 years and were widely considered to be the ‘Swiss Army Knives’ of Digital mixers and their great functionality still stands. There is only one other PRO Studio ( Legendary Producer/Engineer/ Artist and Studio Designer ) utilizing a DM-3200- and with great success! Many people don’t like to read manuals and it took our Chief Engineer literally hundreds of hours of reading over a period of months to learn the particular ‘protocols’, then program our main console which was the final year of production (late 2014) and we purchased this console from the legendary Producer/Engineer and studio designer/builder, Glen Pace, who also upgraded the cards for us and supplied us with spares. High quality 96Khz capable for ‘Sound for Film’ or virtually any genre of recording! Many articles in Music Industry publications raved about these consoles! It is a 64 channel mix platform ( 128 with our Tandem set-up ) that has done away with ‘patch-bays’ and a ton of heat-producing and noisy peripheral ‘outboard-racks’ of equipment! We added the 2nd DM-4800 Console in March 2020 as they are designed to work ‘in Tandem’ so in essence it’s a ‘full size’ Recording Console! With capabilities far beyond most! We also use an older Yamaha 32 channel analog mixer known for fantastic on board effects for live showcase as well as Studio recording.
Note: We use almost no “outboard gear” because our consoles are “soft insert” consoles that have all the normal “outboard gear” built in such as literally hundreds of effects, compressions, gates etc. We use 3 to 5% of the power to operate that most Studio’s do due to the efficiency of the mostly digital gear!
Recorders: We formerly used Tascam X-48’s, Tascam MX-2424’s and currently use Alesis HD-24 Digital hard disc recorders which are not only phenomenal pieces of equipment, but sync flawlessly to the DM-4800 consoles!’ While the console’s will work with many other ‘system’s and brands’ the Studio is customized to our unique work-flow! And 24 bit for the highest quality ‘Sound for film’ (96 Khz) capability! We purchased one of our X-48’s from Grammy winning Producer/Engineer, Ken Wallace- who helped us greatly with support.
